the comedy begins at level 10.

Not stupid!
joyofdiscord - 2007-11-08
It's a comedy bit from some crappy Japanese variety show I presume? Pretty amusing, but it gets +2 stars to counterbalance Chet's attempt to use his right of first comment to trash it.
Rabid Vegan - 2007-11-08
I side with Chet.
Innocent Bystander - 2007-11-08
I'm also counterbalancing. Well, it actually only loses one star because why do you have to explain everything?
hornung - 2007-11-08
i'm voting with my heart.
Caminante Nocturno - 2007-11-08
We must stand up to Chet's strong-arm tactics! Fight his tyranny!
EvilHomer - 2007-11-08
5 stars for finally exporting MADtv to Japan.

The Japanese are so accustomed to politeness they applaud when the comedian "does good" in Tetris, even though he is clearly not really playing.

In a related vein, for or some reason it really bugs me when "victims" on Japanese prank shows pretend to fall for the gags.

As much as I can appreciate some of our cultural differences, I apparently have problems with this uber-politeness trait of theirs.

3 Stars for the introspection this crappy video has given me.

It's settled, the Japanese aren't funny when they try to be
Pandatronic - 2007-11-08
Which is why it's so surprising that this actually is.

my hopes, like tetris blocks, dropped; until they, at last, vanished

+ nothing because this is awful.
revdrew - 2007-11-09
Mildly amusing.
Menudo con queso - 2007-11-09
About as good as Sandra Bullock's "The Net" -- the stage and screen still wrangle unsuccessfully with depictions of video games and computers.

Maybe +1 star for Puyo Puyo and the soybean.
Xenocide - 2007-11-09
The blocks drifting to the top of the screen and ending his game was worth +1 star.
Unmerciful Crushing Force - 2007-11-09
This would normally be a four star video, but +1 for the haters.
ChocFullOfFunk - 2007-11-09
Agreed. I mean, C'mon! Soybean! What the hell! That's hilarious! I never would think you could make a mostly funny sketch out of Tetris.

The cake is a lie.

I've seen so many different bad subtitlings of this video. The first time I saw it, the subtitles were actually done well enough to make it a bit funnier than this (maybe a 3?). But I can't find that damn version anymore.
Jeriko-1 - 2007-11-09
Amusing for reasons I can't put my finger on.
tamago - 2007-11-09
Fuck the haters. This is funny.

I don't like variety shows, and Japan looks to suck like the rest.

Not to curry favor or anything, but I chuckled but once, and I'm a simpleton.
