There are so many bits of this they use in the future that I hadn't even realized.

This was the PILOT (and this is the TV version pilot that was cut way down, the exdended version is even better). Episode 2, Top Banana, is still one of my favorite episodes of the entire series

So I can take that as a yes? This episode was chuckle worthy, a few times, but I wanted some reassurance before I invested any more time on this show.

yes, the first season gets better and better, then the show maintains a level of quality throughout the second season, then kind peters out in the third.

not to say the third season was bad, just not the best. it's probably a better thing that it died so young. you can all try to kill me now.

Arrested Development is very much a character-driven comedy. The more you watch, the better you get to know the characters, and the funnier it all becomes.
