Good intro to a great show that wasn't allowed to live up to its full potential.
Yeah, liked this show as well. I remember when it was titled 'Low Brow' and lost the vote to be the new 'cartoon cartoon.' I think Dexter's Lab beat it or something.
The first couple episodes were really great, then it kind of went on cruise control, mixing average with brief moments of awesome.
Psst: it's XLR.
I think this show got overshadowed by the deluge of mediocrity Adult Swim rolled out at the same time.
The writing wasn't terrible, but it was inconsistent. Some episodes were hilarious, others were a pain to sit through. But the good ones more than made up for the bad.
The problem IS that this show wasn't on Adult Swim.
Kids didn't get the pop-culture jokes or the obvious jabs at the children of the 90s (i.e. most of us)
The Megas crew had some writing issues. The co-creator/head writer is a dick and was suspended for a time for being a dick. Early on he put his foot down on every single tiny issue he could in a political struggle that was completely in his head. After his suspension he gave fuck all about the show, rather seeing it burn in flames then succeed out of spite. Within a few months he began accusing nearly everyone he knew that they were out to ruin him.
This show was pretty decent, is all I can say.
This is the show Gurren Lagann was based on.

Everything Cartoon Network shows or has shown has a thin-yet-noticeable stain of Bleedman coated all over it.
HURF BLURF DUH
You're just hating because it's not Japanese and the female co-protagonist is clearly not a pre-teen
What are you people, 12? Not trolling, just genuinely surprised at the response to this.
Internet tough guy syndrome detected. Please take a break and come back in a few minutes.
EVERYTHING IS EITHER FIVE OR ONE THERE ARE NO OTHER STARS

This show was sure as hell better than Ben 10.

These stars go for the intro, not the actual show. I agree, if it had been on Adult Swim (or MTV as they'd originally planned, hence the running gag of destroying the PopTV Satellite in every episode), but as it stands it was a cool premise that didn't really go anywhere.
MEGAS was never supposed to be on Mtv. THe reason for all teh Mtv bashing is because they cancelled the production team's first series, MTV Downtown. Megas co-creator George Krstic was story editor on Downtown. Co-creator Jody Scheaffer was a character designer on DT and Director Chris Prynoski was the creator of DT. Jody and Chris now work on Metalocolypse, Chris owns Titmouse Studios and Directs half the episodes and Jody works as an animator (credited as Vicious Bastard, a nickname I gave him in college). George is working on the new Star Wars Clone Wars CG show.
That's really awesome, actually. I stroke my beard in your general direction, good sir.
Well, I was there while the stuff was being made, so it's not much of a beardy knowledge thing, more of a 'this is my biography' thing.
