That's what I'm thinking. They put slides like this at the bottom of pits in detention centers in Rangpo and then they throw uppity monks down there. It's a mean way to go.
This ends at EXACTLY the right moment. The complete lack of denuement enhances the surprise. The viewer, much like the father through whose eyes the camera sees, is thrown into confusion and left to scramble frantically to his child's aid, or in the viewer's case, the replay button.
