I don't get it, in the movie Howard gets into a physical fight with someone and Robin cheered him on, here she seems like she's about to start bawling. Entertaining though.

The difference is that Artie is on the edge of self-destruction, and they've been practically watching a man slowly die in front of them for weeks. There's an element of dead seriousness to this that was missing from that scene in the movie.

Radio gold. I was listening to this live as it happened completely enthralled. Artie will be dead in a month.

Artie Lange is such a mess of a human being. I used to be a Stern fan but when I finally got to hear him again once he moved to Sirius I couldn't stand the show. One of the reasons is how needy and low brow Artie can be, although that has led to great radio moments.

"I hate you" and "you stole my fucking money" may be two of the best lines Artie has ever uttered.

Supposedly he is in Amsterdam as I write this. I wouldn't be surprised if he turns up dead before the weekend is over.

I listened to this whole altercation live and was stunned. It happened about halfway through and Howard spent the rest of the show completely drained.

The whole situation with Artie is bitterly depressing. All the song parodies about his weight and history of drug abuse aren't funny at all anymore; I saw the pictures of him sleeping on the website yesterday and he looked dead already.

Does anyone suspect fake?

Arty must be one hell of a method actor then. He's been preparing for this role for over 10 years!

This seems to be a popular theory on Youtube, especially since the staff is going on vacation next week. What a perfect way to sign off and keep people wondering and debating.

But I don't think it was faked. At all. First of all, the show wasn't replayed on Sirius as usual (they re-aired Wednesday's show all day instead) which speaks of lawyers and corporate heads up in arms. And second, everyone's tone of voice indicated that something serious just happened. Robin sounded like she was about to have a panic attack. And also, yeah, Artie has a history of bad marks for doing these sorts of things. Don't forget that he once threw a CD case at Sal in a fit of rage, stunning the studio into silence.

It's rare to hear Howard so completely surprised by something.
