Sounds like someone's been reading West Point Psychology Professor Lt Col Dave Grossman's work (all that stuff about military training). I went through his stuff in high school when I did a project on the topic of violence and video games.

It really shouldn't come as any surprise that young children who are exposed to simulated violence are more likely to be comfortable with the real thing than children who have never been exposed to it, and less likely to be comfortable with inflicting violence than children who have been exposed to the real thing. That doesn't change the fact that this game is marketed to college students. The fact that your husband or boyfriend might be beating virtual hookers to death is supposed to be scary? Oh no! The game is training his impressionable adult mind to do it in real life!

As I understood it, the aim of this clip is to make us aware that video games have been training children to kill Germans since the first world war, a statement I wholeheartedly agree with.

I agree with his thesis that "we are training our kids to be killers, and we are training our sons to treat women like whores"; to say that pop culture "causes" a decaying pop culture doesn't exactly follow.
Beck is clearly a moral cockatiel, but Grand Theft Auto can clearly intensify latent tendencies and distort a healthier view of the world. Or be harmless.
But it didn't sell tens of millions of copies to "college students".

So it's been six years since GTA III, and they still can't shut up about killing the hooker. What's especially amazing is that picking up hookers has always been a hidden feature: you have to drive to just the right area and then sit in your car doing nothing for a while, which is something most players aren't inclined to do, so it's tough to stumble upon it by accident.

If it weren't for the media's hysteria over this incredibly minor feature, the vast majority of GTA players wouldn't even know you COULD pick up hookers, let alone kill them. I sure as hell didn't until I heard some Fox News sock puppet chattering about it back in the day.
