When I was a kid, I guess I was in this shows core demographic because 1) I had never seen the original speed racer and 2) I actually watched it. I didn't really like it, but I hated turning the channel once I got my cartoons going.
But that song keeps getting stuck in my head to this day, although apparently I had misremembered a few lines.
