I can avow for this statement. I know, and have known, many a farmer and large animal vet. You do not fuck with these people. My own vet lost the tip of one of her fingers, has been slammed into walls, biten, kicked, stepped on, and exposed to radiation more times than any human being should ever be.

My favorite memory of her is when she gleefully discussed making caramel while sawing off one of the testicles of a yearling. That and the expression on her face when she pulled the placenta out of a mare which had strange nodules/sacs growing on it...
