It's just the radio business at work. Whoever's record company can afford the most payola to get an artist on the air commands the most listeners, and listeners to radio tend to be either oldies and retro listeners, nu-metal folks, or tweens. Especially tweens. They'll like something just because it's on the radio. Hence: Soulja Boy.

Ice-T however, since he's gone independent and is only distrubuted by a major label, doesn't have the budget any longer to stay on radio. Plus, he probably doesn't care.

And I highly highly doubt Soulja Boy is worth millions. You still have to recoup your advances last time I checked. He's probably well on his way though.

Actually I just saw Lupe Fiasco at Bonnaroo and he was pretty fucking good. Soulja Boy can definitely suck a dick compared to him. He and some others redeem his generation despite its Solja Boys and Lil Bow Wows.
