It's not meant to "make sense"... it's taking clips from a light-hearted anime and turning it into something creepy.

A mash-up with Grave of the Fireflies would have been more effective.
For the life of me, I just cannot understand most anime. Needs a "vore" tag.
I hadn't realized how many dark scenes this film had. Funny what a lack of context can accomplish.
