Is this movie at all watchable to someone who's sick of enduring the same Tim Burton/Danny Elfman/Johnny Depp movie over and over again with a new title each time?

If you're sick of Depp or Burton, not even slightly. The soundtrack was faithfully maintained, but it's a Tim Burton flick, through and through.

at least it's not singing dead people/ghosts. they may look like they are though. it is refreshingly brutish.

The only things I've liked by Tim Burton over the last 14 years have been "Ed Wood" and "Big Fish" because with both he actually manages to put out something that's fun, intelligent, and serious when they're supposed to be---he establishes himself, just for that little bit of time, as a person who knows how to tell a story instead of trotting out the same handful of faggy goth imagery and pandering to a crowd. My respect is diminished for someone who's able to continue to ride the Tim Burton/Johnny Depp Goth Train.

How can someone as awesome as Danny Elfman, who used to be a goddamned Mystic Knight of the Oingo Boingo for crying out loud, be able to look at himself in the mirror after applying the same lame, formulaic, bom-BOM-bom-BOM-bom-BOM etc. soundtrack to the umpteenth Tim Burton goth vehicle and not look away in disgust?
