Xenocide - 2008-07-18
One of the best (and toughest to deliver) monologues in film history.
|
Adham Nu'man - 2008-07-18 One of the best monologues in film history?
LULZ, you need to watch MOAR MOVIES.
|
notbob - 2008-07-18 This movie stole two hours (or more?) of my life, and then sold those hours to Satan who used them to wash his grundel after squats day at the gym.
|
notbob - 2008-07-18 Damn, didn't mean to reply to your comment, nothing personal against you here Xeno
|
Xenocide - 2008-07-18 notbob: No worries.
Adham: It's a fun, memorable, original monologue which introduces the protagonist in a unique and interesting way while establishing his manner, personality, and motivation (as he sees it) all while going mad-funky with the alliteration.
That's pretty impressive. It does everything a monologue should do in this situation, and more.
|
Hooker - 2008-07-19 AND he did it covered head to toe, wearing a mask, with the help of ADR and multiple edits!
Seriously, though. While the delivery is great, it is _way_ from being one of the best monologues.

|
kwash - 2011-09-15 Sin City was as good as, if not better than, the comics.
|
Hugo Gorilla - 2008-07-18
I hated what they did with the movie but it's hard to down vote a clip with Hugo Weaving (his voice anyway) and Natalie Portman.

It's interesting that consonance has so completely declined as a stylistic feature of English prose - people really seem to like it.
|
|
futurebot - 2008-07-18 No, I actually did mean consonance, and on a much broader scale than you're probably considering. Compare lines in Beowulf like "Beowulf Bode in the Burg of the scylDings, LeaDer beLoveD, anD Long he ruLeD in Fame with all Folk since his Father had gone..." Consonance used to be an almost definitive feature of English prose, even more important than rhyme, and there's no intrinsic reason why the repetition of a consonant should be tackier than the reason of an ending. But things have changed.

divinitycycle - 2008-07-18 also I mean chumbucket, not "chumbot". Sorry!

+infinity stars for Alan Moore not accepting money from the work because it didn't represent the anarchist vision he had in his original art.
-1 star for sucking the left wing right wing dichotomy distraction cock that disgusted Alan Moore in the first place.
+infinity more stars for being fucking awesome compared to anything else put out recently.

BHWW - 2008-07-18
Yeah, fuck this movie. Plus, things would have been much better if the Wachowskis careers had never taken off.

Cleaner82 - 2008-07-18
Damn good movie, damn good character. One of the best monologues? Not hardly, but pretty good.

What Cleaner said, really.

Jeff Fries - 2008-07-18

cognitivedissonance - 2008-07-18
5 stars for Stephen Fry's presence in this film, -3 stars for not more of Stephen Fry's presence in this film.
|
MK_Ultra - 2008-07-18
It is a very good superhero movie based on a comic book that introduces healthy concepts to young teenagers who are just beginning to question authority. It's not as good as the original comic, but films rarely hit the quality of their source material.
|
StanleyPain - 2008-07-18
Good movie, but some of its fans are the biggest idiots on the planet.

KnowFuture - 2012-01-18 Any more nominees for good comic books for the Wachowski Bros to ruin?
And to paraphrase Patton Oswalt re Natalie Portman as Evey: There are CHILDREN who can do better British accents. CHILDREN.
