It is a bit surprising that he hasn't done more commercials/movies/trailers, his voice is like, totally made for them. Provided the commercials were for gravel or gospels, the movies were set in the 30s, and Don LaFontaine didn't exist.

Along with Neil Young and Bruce Springsteen, Tom Waits is now well known for NOT shilling his songs out to commercial interests... but I imagine his career was in a different place in 1981. ...and there's nothing wrong with KnowFuture that a hunnerd dollars won't fix.

As far as I know Waits has no problem with lending his voice or acting ability to a product. He just doesn't like his music being used to do it.

"I get it all the time, and they offer people a whole lot of money. Unfortunately I don't want to get on the bandwagon. Videos did a lot of that because they created pictures and that style was immediately adopted, or aborted, by advertising. They didn't even wait for it to grow up.
