There's supposed to be wit and cleverness in a Punisher movie?

I don't really see how you're missing the lack of mercy in a trailer where he's shoving chair legs through peoples' skulls... I must've missed the snippet where the Punisher brought Jigsaw flowers.

Stevenson said they went back to the MAX books for alot of the inspiration, and skulls exploding everywhere have me convinced for now. I just wish Barracuda was in it :(

Yes, Desidiosus. Well, really more what I'm saying is there SHOULD be, because those are the only interesting things about the comics. They never make it to the movies, you're right about that.

'Lack of mercy' isn't just him killing guys. You've seen a million movies of some asshole killing fifty guys. That's not what makes Ennis' Punisher interesting. What makes the Punisher interesting is the horrible depths to which he is willing to descend. Shoving a chair leg through a guy's eye is just a colorful way to end a fight.

The last Punisher movie, the one with Travolta, transformed the Punisher into a vengeful jerk who played a complex and cruel prank on his family's killers.

It was actually kind of funny.

The Max label Punisher is everything the Punisher is supposed to be. Castle is a husk of a man and completely dead on the inside. Everything he loves is destroyed. The only thing driving him is an unquenchable desire for revenge that even he doesn't understand anymore. The other Punisher movies made him too human. He's supposed to be a force of nature whose motivations, when examined, should come off as alien to any sane person. I'm really hoping that's the Punisher they show in this movie.

Id like to see a Punisher movie based on "The End". Hardcore till the end of the human race!
