The description is a lie. The clip is only 9:44, and not 24 hours as it promised when i clicked on it.

I myself have always wondered why Barack Obama doesn't just eat the donut.
|
baleen - 2008-08-01
I am really amazed they can get away with inferring that Obama might be "uppity."

Cleaner82 - 2008-08-01 A black guy said it, rendering it okay. Didn't you see him? He was black! Black as a moonless night!
|
baleen - 2008-08-01
If I recall some of the white guys were saying it too.

Explanations and information just bounces off of buchanan's head like hail off of a tin roof.
Oh, God. The looks on everyone's faces during that part...

Really? This is the worst thing you can say about the guy, oh 24-hour news networks? "Well, he's kind of snooty."
You know who else was a snooty elitist? FRANKLIN DELANO ROOSEVELT. I, for one, am tired of gladhanding fakery and candidates pretending to be JES PLAIN FOLKS (unless, like Bill Clinton, you are an actual redneck, but hey).

Xenocide - 2008-08-01 Ask them what charity they're donating their Social Security checks to, since obviously they would never be so hypocritical as to keep them.

baleen - 2008-08-01
God damn it! They're ENTITLED to those checks. AND MORE.

Not just going apeshit over a quote, but over a deliberate misquote.
The full quote is (as seen at 6:56) was very obvious a humble one. The point of the quote, of course, is that he was diminishing himself, not being egotistical. He was saying that almost anyone could have filled this role, it just happened to be him. That would be the OPPOSITE of being presumptuous.
Meanwhile, McCain releases an ad where he calls himself "President McCain," and somehow Obama is the presumptuous one. DAMN LIBERAL MEDIA.
Also: Rachel Maddow needs her own damn show already.
|
sheikurbouti - 2008-08-01 The quote comes from this article by the Washington Post's Maureen Dowd impersonater, Dana Milbank: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/07/29/AR 2008072902068.html
He apparently left out the first part of the statement where Obama says that it's not about him-personally...
As Scar said, it's not about the facts - it's about the 'narrative'
If there was a God in heaven, Rachel Maddow would be the new host of Meet the Press... but I guess there's not.

Instead of all the focus on Obama's arrogance, someone should be calling for these talking heads to be fired. They based all this criticism on the unsourced quote without disclosing that it was an unsourced quote or performing even some simple background reporting. They make a travesty of journalism without any accountability while Obama get harangued about being "uppity." The right-wing attack machine is getting desperate.

"THE QUOTE IS DISPROVED YOU RETARDED DUMBFUCKS"
"Buuuut the quote! He's upity!"

I know that even pointing out the vacuousness of television is trite, but still...goddamn. I mean, speech defying bewilderment mixed with contempt, and do these people watch their own shows after taping? How do you not develop a brain aneurysm from short term exposure?
