Sounds good... After some digging here is the plot summary:

"Negishi Soichi leaves his family's farm in Oita Prefecture for the bright lights of Tokyo. There he swaps his taste in Swedish pop for the totally out-of-character death metal, taking on the role of vocalist in the trio Detroit Metal City and adopting the name Johannes Krauser II." There's some other stuff apparently about a girlfriend and split personalities, but I'm not sure.

There is a manga, this trailer is advertising the 24 (5 minute long) episode OVA, and there is a live action movie out on the 23rd in Japan.

Well, I liked FLCL, so I'll probably like this.
