I'm sure he deserved it, right apologists?

Merkwuerdigeliebe - 2008-08-03 If you don't get up when a police officer asks you to, you deserve to be tazed. None of that "my back is broken" excuse; pain is weakness leaving your body.
SecretJunk - 2008-08-03 My money is on them using it as a make-shift defibrillator. CLEAR!

Smellvin - 2008-08-03
I bet he started yelling, "Shoot cops" after the first twelve tasings.
Also, those cops got TAZY CRAZY!
heyitslozeau - 2008-08-03
cops need to start going to fucking jail for this shit, not the 2 week suspension bullshit that happens every week.

Binro the Heretic - 2008-08-03
"He refused to comply with officers."
I'm imagining a scene something along the lines of this kid lying there with a broken back and busted heel while the cops scream at him.
"Get up! Get up! Okay, he's not complying. Hit him."
{{TZZZT!}}
"Get up! Get up, damn it, or we'll taze you again."
Knuckles - 2008-08-03 Exactly, thank you camonk.
Smellvin - 2008-08-03 The point is that tasers are a cop's way of saying, "Stop!" rather than, "Hey! You're not doing what I want you to do." If a kid is just lying on the ground, he isn't interfering with the police much nor could he in any way be construed as a threat.
If this were Boston, I'd just assume the police were tasing him because they were assuming he was a bomb.

Cleaner82 - 2008-08-04 THERE we go. That's a little closer to a coherent counterpoint. Still pretty dim.
Camonk - 2008-08-04 Well I'd forgotten that this place is overrun with police-hating, patchouli-smelling, parent-shaming, long-haired peaceniks who need every damn thing about the real world explained to them while I hold their hands and sprinkle fairy dust in their oily mops.
OxygenThief - 2012-08-03 I don't know how I lived my life before you were here to set me straight.
RockBolt - 2008-08-03
Lucky he was only making incoherent statements while writhing in pain on the ground, if he had a candy bar in his hand they might have shot him 19 times instead
Hooker - 2008-08-03
"He was making threatening statements like 'kill all cops,' and our police officers were afraid he'd hurt himself by going into traffic, so that's why we tazed him."
vissarion - 2008-08-03 Kind of a contradictory statement there.
Baby Finster - 2008-08-03
Eventually, police officers will be replaced by senrty robots that operate in two states: "total unquestioning compliance" and "Taze into unconsciousness."

drcrypt - 2008-08-04 YOU HAVE THREE SECONDS TO COMPLY.

"I know both cops and violent ex-convicts, with scumbags and saints on both sides of the line, and I always assume when someone gets beat down it's usually because they deserve it. This is because I am cynical."
Hooker - 2008-08-03 I think I speak for everyone when I say we're all waiting on baleen to answer for police everywhere again.
facek - 2008-08-03
Cops like this usually stay street cops their whole career. There's no way you'll ever make detective or even be put in any sort of investigative unit when you don't have the inquisitive skill to find out if this guy is injured or is a drunk faking it.
Just like pressure points, batons, asps, and nightsticks you're going to get stupid cops using them improperly. At least with a taser he just had a high temperature instead of more injuries.
Cleaner82 - 2008-08-04 No, but I do remember cops being much worse than this in the past.
Rosemilk - 2008-08-03
bad cop no donut

Spastic Avenger - 2008-08-04
I ont think there's any question about this. He had fallen off the overpass before they got there. When you are sprawled on the ground with a fractured spinal column you can easily become delirious; cerebrospinal fluid is losing pressure, you're in excruciating pain (hopefully, or kiss your legs goodbye) and some dickhead in a uniform is shouting instructions at you.
fermun - 2008-08-04 Are you insulting yourself or correcting yourself? I'd like to think maybe you fell off an overpass and have become delirious with cerebrospinal fluid losing pressure and excruciating pain.

Spastic Avenger - 2008-08-04 I pressed submit before I finished the comment, then tried to ammend it by tacking one on the bottom. Funnily enough when I re-read it I briefly thought somebody was being sassy.

Dicknuts - 2008-08-04
Angry mobs used to lynch people for doing this kind of shit.
karl hungus - 2008-08-04
I totally wanna put it in his aunt's ass.
Cleaner82 - 2008-08-04 Sounds like she needs a taser.
notbob - 2008-08-04
As a former EMT, I'm not surprised by cops' ability to be the first one s on the scene and fuck things up irrevocably for everyone else involved.
charmlessman - 2008-08-04
A "broke-off heel"? Wow. That's some fine reporting there.
kingofthenothing - 2009-02-26
Some cops seem to be replaced by the Lizard People from V. This would be my evidence.
