I don't agree her objectivist bullshit but she's making some valid points right here.
KnowFuture - 2008-08-04
And if there's anyone who knows philosophical flaws, it's Ayn Rand.

She's kinda right though, one thing that almost sold me on Objectivism is their take on religion.
Konversekid - 2010-02-03
Except she is going against her own philosophy. I understand that religious belief is irrational, but what the republicans sell to get votes does not mean they are being irrational. Ayn Rand believes that people should make a decision with who they deal with based on ones wills and disposition to the other party (ie. the group with the cheapest product or in this case the more preferred values). The Republican party is simply presenting themselves in a way that would make them a desirable party to choose. They are doing what works to get what they want, just because they aren't being openly rational shouldn't matter at all.

Objectivism is 'Will to Power' for retards.

Simian Pride - 2008-08-04
I never thought I would give Ayn Rand 5 stars.
Aoi - 2008-08-04
Huh. Yeah. Five stars for Ayn Rand.

I feel dirty, even surrounded by water in my undersea techno-dome.

Pass the gasoline and wire brush, please.

splatterbabble - 2009-03-01
The thought of her and Alan Greenspan bumpin' uglies will never leave me.

futurebot - 2008-08-04
Great, now she's plagiarizing Marx
manfred - 2008-08-04
It seems that Ayn Rand would support DOCTOR RON PAUL
Randroid - 2008-08-04
RONPAUL 08: My great-great grandfather owned people, and not in the sense that he was really good at Counterstrike. He got to own other human beings. I, on the other hand, can not. Modern life sucks!!!!!!!!!! pass me the fuckin wheaties dad i'm late for home ec

She actually hates libertarians, especially conservative libertarians.
Actually she hates pretty much everybody except self-made millionaires who rape people.

what an elitist
Unsung - 2008-08-04
If only she had stuck to speeches and essays like this instead of writing stories.
chumbucket - 2008-08-04
ahh so THIS is the diary clip I'm missing to get that achievement!
dueserpenti - 2008-08-04
You know, if all I knew about Ayn Rand came from this clip, I would think she was really smart.
Grace Mugabe - 2008-08-04
America never deserved a champion like her.
kingarthur - 2008-08-04
That's debatable. I can think of several ways my own personal life would be better had she never existed. Not having Randroid friends in high school who would go out of their way to preserve your "morality" is one.

Keefu - 2008-12-12
She less of a champion and more of a perfect example of why communism sucks. Living in Bolshevik Russia sadly trampled this woman into one of the most amazing cases of "Sad, Broken People 101" ever. You will be hard pressed to find a more disjointed worldview than in some of the things she asserted in trying to play philosopher.

Keefu - 2008-12-12
That being said, she wasn't always dysfunctional and this is one of the times where she is basically right, even if it is a common sense sort of thing.

Flux - 2008-08-04
these are mostly lucid and cogent arguments but lurking on the fringes of them you can hear her beginning to veer off into the aspie obsessive drive to build simplistic abstract models from scratch in her head and then filter all of reality through them
Cleaner82 - 2008-08-04
Interestingly, most philosophy boils down to what you guys are saying about her. Using reason up to a point to lend your view credence, and then taking a flying leap into absurdity.

"Here are some valid points based on logic and empirical
evidence. And now, logically, you can see why gnomes invade my home at night and break my picture frames."
Caminante Nocturno - 2008-08-04
It' hard to wrap your head around something logical coming out of her.
Blaise - 2008-08-04
Using Rand to argue for separation of church and state is like using the Fox to argue for the liberation of chickens from their hen houses.
