To be fair, most NES games didn't really have a lot of space to keep a reasonable ending, especially not by today's standards.

Wow, Ghostbusters is pretty fond of itself. Not only has it deemed itself to be a "great game," it turns out the credibility of our culture's justice rested on beating it.
I never finished it, which is probably why our culture is the way it is today. Sorry guys. :(

Most of these endings seem to be saying "Hey, it's not like anyone's actually going to beat these games."
I'm surprised some of these games even have endings.
