If they made this today the skeletons would be elaborately rendered 3D models using the most advanced tools and a team of the best 3D artists and it would be seamlessly composited into the scene and it would still look ridiculous.

I love the one whose head isn't even facing the right way floating vaguely in the direction of the people. It's like real skeletons were "too scary" but they ran out of money to finish the fake skeletons.
