I used to read his autobiography before band practice and even though I disagreed with 99% of what he said, he's obviously a really intellignet person who is following his own principles rather than a party line, and for that I respect him.

I don't get all the Buchanan hate, as a commentator he's on point and funny to boot, and I'm about as liberal as they come.

As mentioned above, Buchanan is crazy, but he stays consistent to his crazy and doesn't follow any party line. I like him as a commentator, too.

I would never, ever want Buchanan to hold political office because he's a right wing nut, but I'm glad he's around because he's pretty honest and sets the bar high in pundit debates.
