WAH! Easily one of my favorite crazy-ass conservatives, because unlike so many he will dare to break from the party line when he disagrees.

This is the most excited I have been for awhile.

Old_Zircon - 2009-02-18

I used to read his autobiography before band practice and even though I disagreed with 99% of what he said, he's obviously a really intellignet person who is following his own principles rather than a party line, and for that I respect him.

buttnutt - 2008-08-29

Does anyone else thinks he looks like a muppet when he picks up and reads the script?

fluffy - 2008-08-29

He looks like a muppet all the time. Like an aged Guy Smiley.

sheikurbouti - 2008-08-29

I doubt he's going to start going door-to-door for Obama any time soon, but still - fun fun fun to watch.

Caminante Nocturno - 2008-08-29

I'm angered and disgusted that Obama would be so insensitive. He continues setting the bar so impossibly high for a poor, old man.

Knuckles - 2008-08-29

That's how you get people off their feet by pulling at their entrails.

Cleaner82 - 2008-08-29

I think he said 'spleen' among other things. That was one hell of a speech for sure.

Stog - 2008-08-29

That angry little gnome thought Obama's speech was eloquent!

McCain is surely fucked. The thought of it makes me very happy.

Tstyle - 2008-08-29

I don't get all the Buchanan hate, as a commentator he's on point and funny to boot, and I'm about as liberal as they come.

Camonk - 2008-08-29

As mentioned above, Buchanan is crazy, but he stays consistent to his crazy and doesn't follow any party line. I like him as a commentator, too.

FeeFiFoFoTheFifeFifeBrown - 2008-08-29

Um, well he crazy racist, for starters. I've seen at least one "OMG BREEDER NIGS MAKING WHITES AN ENDANGERED SPECIES" screed from him.

Tstyle - 2008-08-29

...but he's our crazy racist.

baleen - 2008-08-29

McCain is not surely fucked. We need the people who are excited about Obama to actually vote. If that happens, McCain is surely fucked.

Chalkdust - 2008-08-29

Which is also one of the brilliant things about the Obama text-message thing. Absolutely they're going to send out text messages to recipients reminding them to get to the polls, probably with the added message to text your friends and make sure they've voted too:

Syd Midnight - 2008-08-29

I would never, ever want Buchanan to hold political office because he's a right wing nut, but I'm glad he's around because he's pretty honest and sets the bar high in pundit debates.

StanleyPain - 2008-08-29

Best part is when he's all "let me read it!" and has to hold the paper, like, 4 inches in front of his face. It's just...I dunno. Funny.

Cleaner82 - 2008-08-29

Like an excited little kid! I love it.

citrusmirakel - 2008-08-29

Reading a segment of Obama's speech was the most applause Buchanan has ever received in his life.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2008-08-29

Man, I can't fucking wait for the debates. Prepare to be absolutely crushed, old man.

Camonk - 2008-08-29

When a guy who's diametrically opposed to most of your views, politically speaking, calls your speech one of the most important in convention history, you know a frail old asshole who can't make his own kids cheer for him is utterly fucked.

Also Obama's speech was beautiful.

StanleyPain - 2008-08-29

To be fair, Buchannan's been getting his ass handed to him doing this live thing at the RNC and sitting right next to Rachael Maddow. Maybe he figured he'd be nice just to make the evening go down easier.

fluffy - 2008-08-29

I really need to see Obama's speech, I guess.

Xenocide - 2008-08-29

Olbermann summed it up best. And if a jaded old right-wing douche like Buchanan loved it that much, just think how Joe Voter reacted. The debates are going to be fun.

Speaking of Joe Voter, the overnight ratings just came out. Obama's speech got 38 million viewers, which beats out the Olympic opening ceremonies, the Oscars, and the finale of American Idol. That figure doesn't include PBS or C-SPAN.

baleen - 2008-08-29

38 million?!?! HOLY SHIT.

Cleaner82 - 2008-08-29

And that's counting a guy like me who didn't watch it on TV because of utter faith in the internets.

Cleaner82 - 2008-08-29

*NOT

Desidiosus - 2008-08-29

With numbers like that I don't think you need to worry so much, baleen. This won't be a repeat of 2004.

baleen - 2008-08-30

I'm worried. Always worried.

Cleaner82 - 2008-08-30

Worrying is good. The stakes are high.

baleen - 2008-08-29

He seemed almost ashamed of it afterward, like he had just attested his love to a girl that didn't want to talk to him at all.

RockBolt - 2008-08-29

My spleen!

DMKA - 2008-08-29

Wow.

kennydra - 2008-08-29

Barack Obama touched my spleen.

Meerkat - 2008-08-29

5 stars just for the preview image. It's like he's licking the damn thing.

Herr Matthias - 2008-08-29

Not really surprising. Pat Buchanan and his magazine, American Conservative, fucking HATE neocons.

Pillager - 2008-08-29

80

Pat Buchanan is now a voice of reason...

WHat the Hell Happened?

chumbucket - 2008-08-29

he stopped smokin the herb

baleen - 2008-08-29

It's not that he's a voice of reason, he worked for Richard Nixon. He's a Kissinger Republican. These people have always been at odds with the Bush Administration.
