Joe Lieberman sucks.

Cleaner82 - 2008-09-02 I'm struggling to figure out why I should care one way or another about this.

Hooker - 2008-09-02 Maybe it's not being an American, but I just don't get why liberals hate Lieberman so much. Aside from one issue, he's staunchly liberal in every position and he caucuses with the Democratic party to give it a majority in the Senate. Is supporting the war really that horrendous?

Camonk - 2008-09-02 No hooker, you're right, supporting an illegal war that killed between 30,000 and 100,000 Iraqi civilians, 4000+ US soldiers, destroyed Iraq's ability to function as a country, wrecked the US economy, and destroyed our international standing isn't that bad you horrific, fatuous fucking douche. Jesus Christ.

StanleyPain - 2008-09-02 Hooker, it's not just supporting the war. It isn't just ONE issue. Lieberman has been supporting Republicans for some time now. He is even appearing the RNC this year. He campaigned AGAINST a Democrat politician in his own home state. He has been part of McCain's campaign. He votes on that side of the aisle almost constantly. He is not a staunch liberal of any sort. What he has been doing for the past 5 or so years is effectively acting as a supporter of the Republican party without having the balls to go whole hog, change his party, and just be done with it.

Well, it worked. I now no longer want to support Obama.

Lieberman has recently latched himself to McCain with such zeal that he's openly questioning Obama's patriotism. Until a few days ago he was on the short list for VP.
It's a logical calculation on his part - even if Obama loses (anything's possible), the GOP is probably going to lose so many Senate seats that the Democrats will no longer need Lieberman to be filibuster-proof and he'll be stripped of his seniority and committee chairmanship - His only option is to become a Republican after the election. He can only survive if he sucks up to the GOP and he is going full-suck right now.
Compare tonight's RNC speech (at this moment not yet delivered) to the clip above. I find this level of hypocrisy to be pretty entertaining.
