Needs nightmare tag, the thing is overly-dramatized but the footage makes it's own point, except for animal testing i almost agree with the hippies.
Also when i was about four or five years old i was forced to sit on a slashed dead pig and get a picture taken as part of a local Christmas tradition, still have the picture, and it still creeps me out.

"Speciesism" = speciousness. Some of this narration is so fucking dumb it's insulting. "The question of sameness wears another face." Huh? Fuck you.

Parts 1-4: We shouldn't do this to animals because they are so much like us. They would never kill each other to eat.

Part 5: We shouldn't do this to animals because they are too dissimilar to us.

The entire debate about the ethical/humane treatment of animals is skewed by the issue of "rights." Frankly I am not smart enough (most people aren't) to parse that philosophical debate. Not to be too anti-rational here, but I just trust my instincts: I recoil at the sight of animals being slaughtered, especially under the conditions of modern, intensive factory farming, therefore I can not in good conscience participate in the meat industry by regularly consuming meat.

The idea that somehow because these animals are bred solely to be consumed (and are accorded obscene living conditions as a consequence) lets us off the hook is to me the most up-is-down argument that still has currency in this era. Meat that is hunted in the wild or meat that is the product of animals who get a few years of active grazing before slaughter is to me far less upsetting than animals that are reared intensively and treated merely as units of production before meeting their ignoble ends.

I have to get high-and-mighty about this stuff every once in a while or else I cave in and start double-fisting meatburgers.

Oh go to hell, you fucking hippie. Yes, let's listen to the animals and see how they handle animal rights issues; I'm sure the lions and bears and sharks will be great examples for how an apex predator should treat weaker animals with respect and compassion.

I can watch this, all fine and good, but lord I would just about kill for a steak right now. Something bloody and fatty to slap under the broiler. I have been eating a vegetarian diet for monetary reasons, and good god do I need a fat slab of meat before I go insane. I'd kick one of these narrators asses for a good grilled steak.

Also, I do not feel sympathy for lobsters. I can't even imagine what an all-you-can-eat lobster buffet is like.. they're gigantic fucking insects, if flies were the size of chickens and tasted delicious I'd eat the hell out of them.

Sorry, I'm not trying to be edgy. I genuinely need to go buy a fucking steak before I go crazy.
