No, see, James Brown's preshow robe and his cape are two very different things. When James Brown gets really into it he just breaks down (BREAK DOWN GUT GAWD HUH) and his assistant has to come out and put on his cape and try to get him off stage. But James Brown starts feelin' it again, and he whips the cape off and gets back on the good foot!
