Ed's dad appears to have mastered some kind of aikido/judo style there. One of my favorite CB fights.

j lzrd / swift idiot - 2008-10-05

Actually, he just headbutts people and isn't there when they try and throw a punch or a kick.

Keefu - 2008-10-05

Ed's dad was the most skilled in the series apparently.

j lzrd / swift idiot - 2008-10-05

Actually, he just eats a lot of raw eggs.

ProfessorChaos - 2008-10-05

Well, the fight didn't go on too long. Spike may have figured out how to beat him, as time progressed. The fight ended when Ed showed up. We'll never know for sure.

(Nerds debating outcomes of kung fu fights are so much fun.)

MrBuddy - 2008-10-05

Wrong ProfessorChaos, ergo the Speigel/shop-keeper dialog in episode 2 "Norainu no Sutoratto" of "Kauboi Bibappu" (that's "Stray Dog Strut" and "Cowboy Bebop" respectively for you dub watching losers). As you should know from reading "The Ultimate Guide To Kauboi Bibappu", the father of Edward Wong Hau Pepelu Tivrusky IV (birth name: Francoise) is Appledelhi Siniz Hesap Lutfen (which means "excuse me, check please" in Turkish). Actually, I can tell from having black belts in three separate martial arts and having participated in quite a few competitions in my time that Appledelhi is clearly using the Mantis On Lotus style. Despite Speigel being the hero his inferior Way Of The Dragon style can never even hope to out match Mantis On Lotus.

Are you also a bouncer?

10 stars for MrBuddy

Godard's Drinking Problem - 2008-10-05

I'm not going to spoil the score, but as a non-viewer of this show this is a non-interesting clip. One character becomes exasperated at his inability to hit another character, and then a boat charges ashore. Hurm.

MurgatroidMendelbaum - 2008-10-05

They were going to shoot him.
Then came the eggs.
You don't have to be a fan to appreciate that sort of metaphor.

Subfuscious - 2008-10-05

Um, what sort of metaphor is that, exactly?

kiint - 2008-10-05

its..an..um..essay on the duality of man.

yeah.

j lzrd / swift idiot - 2008-10-06

Thia show is too good for all of the above.

Caminante Nocturno - 2008-10-06

Is this supposed to be some sort of standup routine?

Do you think you're Jerry Fucking Seinfeld or something?

Caminante Nocturno - 2008-10-06

He's not as good a father as he is a fighter.

j lzrd / swift idiot - 2008-10-10

Actually, he's just a bouncer.

HarveyTibbar - 2008-12-19

Ed's dad seems to be using a more contemporary style, employing minimalist movement and direct and efficient attacks.

Very nice, I remember looping this on my DvD player the first time I saw it.
