It's hard to tell who's winning. Other than the viewer, I mean.

When watching this, keep in mind that the people wearing the riot gear are not police. They are young men between 18 and 24 performing their mandatory military service. They don't even get paid for their work.

Poor bastards. One friend of mine has amazing scars from the APEC summit in Busan. He was hit with a molotov cocktail and while on fire was beaten senseless by the rest of the crowd.
baleen - 2008-10-05

Around the right to work states workers are usually beaten shitless and then spat on.

KnowFuture - 2008-10-05
In a lot of workplaces in the U.S., things aren't even allowed to go even close to this far. I can't count all the places I've worked where just saying "hey guys, let's organize against management!" would not only guarantee you getting fired but possibly arrested too. I think a lot of unions are really corrupt in this country but I say let's reform them and let them be the thing they're supposed to be, not get rid of them.
Cena_mark - 2008-10-05
I live in a right to work state, which is good, cause I don't want to join a union. All the unions did in these jobs were keep lazy assholes from getting fired. Hell the unions destroyed the Big 3 automakers. When the Japanese build plants in the US they keep the UAW out, that's why they're still running strong while GM, Ford, and Chrysler are tanking.
OxygenThief - 2008-10-05
You are this wrong about everything.

Cena_mark - 2008-10-05
Explain how, cockthief. Then why are the big 3 failing for reasons other than unions cannibalizing the company and high as shit corporate taxes?

Aunt - 2008-10-05
They are failing because of capitalism. Maybe you've heard of it?

Cena_mark - 2008-10-05
Aunt: They fail because of socialist aspects of our society, big taxes, unions. Put all the regulations aside and let the Big 3 to run in a pure capitalist sense then you'll see them flourish.

UAW is retarded. They think somebody is ,000 with tons of benefits just for fastening some bolts. Let the market decide and you'll find he's really just worth ,000. And fuck this living wage shit. You're worth what you're worth to the market nothing more and nothing less.
You guys accept socialism because you know you'd be losers in a capitalist society. You'd fail you need a hand up. You need the government to steal from the hard working high achievers and give to you pathetic bums.

Aunt - 2008-10-05
Dude, I agree with you. Fuck making enough money to live. Socialism is totally for assholes who care about bullshit like equality and fairness.

kelpfoot - 2008-10-05
Cena: A Ford Focus will cost you about ,000 new, which is about the same as a typical Honda Civic or Toyota Camry. After four years/100k miles, the Focus will be worth ,000 (and it will have required about a thousand dollars maintenance). After eight or more years/250k miles, the Civic and Camry will be worth ,000 and will have required about the same thousand dollars in maintenance.

The upshot of this is that only stupid people by American cars new. Obviously, new car sales are the foundation of a manufacturer's success.

Please explain how this is the UAW's fault.

baleen - 2008-10-06

why do you people talk to this guy? he's boring.

Cena_mark - 2008-10-06
Its the UAW's fault because under the wages they're paying to their employees they can't sell cars at prices low enough to compete with the Japanese. If they could pay an employee what he's worth and not an inflated union wage then they could compete.

kelpfoot - 2008-10-06
For fuck's sake, Cena, maybe you should bother READING the question before you try to answer it.

YOUR ANSWER explains why American cars cost more than comparable Japanese cars, which makes you look retarded, because American cars DON'T cost more than comparable Japanese cars. MY QUESTION was how it is the UAW's fault that American cars devalue so much faster than comparable Japanese cars (while at the same time requiring more maintenance.)

It's like watching an insane reenactment of a medieval battlefield with pikemen and closed shield formations. All they needed were some archers.

South Korea always has the best riots.

The white ants with their club like appendages fight off the more armored black ants who fight by expelling a stinging gas from a specialized organ in their thorax.

Aunt: "Socialism is totally for assholes who care about bullshit like equality and fairness."
Equality? Fairness? In every society where the people were all economically equal they were equally miserable. We have equality under the judgment of law that is equal enough. We may not be economically equal, but we have a great standard of living in the U.S. In fact the average "poor" person in the states lives better than the average European.
Fairness? Sorry buddy, but Its not fair if you take my money (i.e. what portion of my life I used to get that money) and redistribute it to folks who don't work.
Sorry, that shit might get you an "A" in intro to sociology, but it gets you an "F" in the great halls of Cena_mark University.
