I knew this guy from high school, I went was in the same class as his sister. He is an engineer and joined the Marines (I forget if it was from ROTC), and got his hand blown off by an IED in Iraq. He now works on helping design better prostheses, often using improvised parts. There was an article about him in WIRED.

A bazillion stars for a service man saying, "Yeah, I was there. I didn't agree with it, but I did my duty. And now that my duty is over, I'm free to speak about it."
Sick of this "soldiers are fighting for our freedom in Iraq". No, they fucking aren't fighting for American freedom in Iraq. I'm also sick of "Iraq was a just war because we brought democracy". No, we fucking didn't. Also, that's revisionist fucking history.
Also, I'd like to use the word fuck a few more times to explain my feelings on Iraq. Fuck, fuck. Fuck fuck fuck. Fuck.

I would five star this anyway but dissing all of the herds that actually do "dishonor the troops and our democracy by wanting to speak for all of them" pretty much sums it up better than I ever could.

Finally someone said it. I was in the Navy when all this bullshit started and hearing random fat fucks on Fox News telling everyone including the troops what the troops thought and that this bullshit war was protecting freedom of speech made me want to steal an a-k and go postal through San Diego.
Also, the end was kind of depressing. He lost that hand for absolutely nothing.

McCain still has a few days to continue the one-upmanship by airing an advert featuring a soldier with neck-down prosthesis.
