Fun fact: Amin didn't like some of the footage in the wide release version of this film, so he held 200 French citizens hostages and had them call Schroeder to plead to take out the bits he didn't like.

You know, this film actually makes me think better of Idi Amin. I mean, I still think he's a psychopathic dictator who brutalized his nation, but he was at least smart enough to announce some good policies that I doubt he took any action on.
