StanleyPain A lot of the scenes in the extended edition are great since they're closer to the book and expand the story, and then there's stuff like this.
It's been ages since I read the book so my geek beard is waning, but isn't it Duke Leto who, in fact, befriends the Fremen staff and convinces them that they are the good guys?
glasseye Yes and no. This scene is pretty darn close to the events in the book; if anything, Jessica is more confident in the film. She did, however, jump on the messianic bandwagon pretty quickly, since it was the only way to ensure her own survival and that of her son.
It was clear that Leto treated the Fremen staff differently from the Harkonnens, but Jessica was the one who spearheaded the effort.
Camonk What's funny is that I just got done making a Dune reference in class.
