"Marijuana had STOPPED *freeze frame* ... being illegal ;)"

Narration and other bits about the presentation bothered me, but, as a proud canuck, I won't let something piddling like that stand in my way of giving anything with "Canada" in the title anything less than 5 stars.

spencer - 2008-11-20

..and here they are.

mouser - 2008-11-21

This is a common misconception of Canada's stance on marijuana.

Pot is not legal here. It's just decriminalized. It basically mean that unless you're trafficking, you wont have a criminal record for it. But you could still be fined or serve time.

CharlesSmith - 2008-11-21

Decriminalized pot means it's "illegal" but they'll only bust you for it if they're already busting you for something else or if you did something that pissed them off but is not illegal.

Bebido - 2008-11-20

Ann Coulter is alive? Also Canada kicked America's ass during the revolution when America tried to invade Canada, stupid Ann Coulter.

Cena_mark - 2008-11-21

I hate how smug Canadians get over shit like this. All the libs can escape there for all I care, since they don't appreciate American values anymore.

Aoi - 2008-11-21

It's our thing. It amuses us to bring it up, even if we're well educated enough to know that there are more facets to it than we might present.

Like the belief that America won WWII.

CharlesSmith - 2008-11-21

Haha, seriously. Americans getting mad at Canada for jokingly mythologizing an incident in a war should, you know, have a look at their own history books. Fun Fact: Captain America never actually punched Hitler in the mouth.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2008-11-21

Very sinister. Canada is the new boogeyman.

Camonk - 2008-11-21

I have a feeling this is making Canada seem way better than it actually is.

Comrade Admiral - 2008-11-21

I'm not a nationalist by any stretch of the imagination, but this is a pretty great place to live.

Then again, I'm thinking about spending some time in the socialist hellholes of Denmark or Sweden after I finish my degree, so my opinion may be rendered invalid.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2008-11-21

I watched it all the way through and it's really an interesting progression of voter desires vs. political interference on our part. That being the US pressured Canada greatly to keep pot illegal.

mr666 - 2008-11-21

Having lived in Canada for several months last year and yeah the video does make it seems better than it is. Not that there's anything wrong with Canada mind you, but some Americans seem to have idealized a few things about Canada, including pot and universal health care. (the health care thing is great but I heard some horror stories from Canadians about how long it can take to go through the system for non-essential care).

Midnight Man - 2008-11-21

This was shit. I fucking hate Americans who idolize my country while having such a shakey understanding of the facts. Marijuana is not legal, and decriminalization/same sex marriage is hardly the 'first time' Canada and the USA diverged on public policy. And I'm not even starting on the technical aspects of this

Midnight Man - 2008-11-21

I've just been informed this douche is Canadian. I sort of assumed from the title. I came back to apologize and have a good cry.
