Y'know, I don't understand why beardoes said Simm's Master wasn't as good as the previous ones (other than the typical THEY CHANGED IT NOW IT SUCKS) aspect. It's a modern sexy cool sociopathic Master for modern times. Roger Delgado in a Fu-Manchu and robes would have been laughed out of the room.
(although I would have shit myself if they had actually gotten Tom Baker to do it)
What bothered some fans (including me) was the abrupt switch of character. Stories with the Master were not always well written and didn't always make sense, but in his best moments, The Master was always a more charismatic, sinister character. The new Master was just off the wall and goofy and came off as trying to be some kind of Joker character or something.
Also (now in full beardo mode), the "backstory" of how the Master came to be Professor Yana and all that stuff was awful, even by Doctor Who standards (where The Master routinely escaped inescapable situations).
Eh. The current DOCTOR is a wacky goofy Joker character. Just like how Pertwee was a debonair 60s action hero, Delgado was a cackling 60s action villain. Tennant is a goofy postmodern fagmo hero, Simm is a goofy postmodern fagmo villain.
This clip leaves out the part where he does a Dr. Evil impression. It's in this one though near the 3:20 mark.

I'm not a fan of the new Doctor Who, but it does have some fun moments despite David Tennant chewing up the scenery.
