he did not, however, show what it looks like after a collision
"Oh, the Top Gear guys want to film a segment in our mall? That sounds like fun!"
Their budget seems to get more ludicrously large every episode. I have a feeling they've spent way more on this segment than Ford's entire advertising budget for this model.
I think this WAS Ford's entire advertising budget for this model.
Big Beef Burritos Supreme
BTW: Ford have a reputation of offering good deals that result in product placement. For example, the cult 70s show The Professionals featured brilliant cars, all picked, maintained and supplied by Ford, free of charge. This is no way didn't help to promote the iconic Capri and the legendary RS2000. The shows were basically thirty minute adverts with Ford calling what cars suited what scenes.
I'm not entirely sure they didn't provide stunt drivers too.
I'm pretty sure the various regiments the the Royal Army and Marines love incorporating Top Gear productions into their training operations. Its nearly free recruitment advertising (the troops are already geared up, and the tasks aren't entirely dissimilar to deterring car-bombers in Basra), on a BBC show that is heavily watched by the ideal demographic (15-20 year old males).
No Blues Brothers music?
Stuff like this makes me think the american version of this show will never work - no way they'll be this ambitious.
I have faith in my country, that even if they use the exact same source material, they'll manage to find some way to make it lame and retarded for American audiences.
This is one of the best segments they've ever had on this show I think.
The headlamps awe bwiwwiant.
|Poor Excuse |
They just made a car named "Fiesta" seem cool.Who'da thunk?
"It's just the british, they make all the lame american words sound better and represent something other than the crap it does in america."
Fiesta. Just another lame american word.
Despite yet another instance of Clarkson's perverse anti-Corvette bias this is probably the best Top Gear segment I've ever seen.
Good news, America: in two years, when other manufacturers will have equalled or surpassed the quality of this awesome little car, Ford USA will grudgingly allow you to buy one!
I'd hate to have to clean the floor in that shopping centre.
Top Gear at it's best!
