I'm Mike Huckabee and like most people who take my position on gay marriage, I'm really really really concerned about the dictionary.

futurebot - 2008-12-11

Five stars for this comment.

HarrietTubmanPI - 2008-12-11

Didn't the law also prevent women from voting? Also, wasn't that law supported by a majority of Americans at one point?

I don't get the whole mentality of "well I'm only going along with most Americans." It's as if you don't have a mind of your own and... oh wait.

"For an arbitrary amount of years a complete incorrect thing defining marriage has happened and I rape Dutch children don't tell lol k."

kennydra - 2008-12-11

"Religion is far more of a choice than homosexuality"

For. The. Win.

simon666 - 2008-12-11

The real problem is, when science proves homosexuality is genetic and not a "lifestyle choice," this guy and his brethren won't believe the science. *Sigh*

chumbucket - 2008-12-11

I saw "Do The Right Thing" and I'm pretty sure it has NOTHING to do with this book

dr_rock - 2008-12-13

No it does. In this book, Huckabee gets his Jordans scuffed by a homosexual... I think you can imagine the rest.

erratic - 2008-12-11

I love how a show on a comedy network has the most intelligent, calm, and respectful discussion of this issue over any of the news networks

simon666 - 2008-12-11

Yeah where the host afraid to confront the guest about the positions they hold.

Evilhead - 2008-12-12

Uh I think Jon pretty much destroyed his argument (which he didn't really have to begin with). Did you want him to punch him?

simon666 - 2008-12-12

"isn't afraid" was supposed to be in there.

Rudy - 2008-12-12

To be fair, this network also employs well-known bon vivant Carlos Mencia.

Frank Rizzo - 2008-12-11

"IM NOT HOMOPHOBIC!!!! WORDS MATTER! SOMEONE PLEASE PROTECT THE WORDS!!!"

RockBolt - 2008-12-11

"But gays make me uncommmfortable"

Paracelsus - 2008-12-11

This is the guy you should be concerned about, not Palin...that is, if the Republican establishment would embrace him, which it won't as long as it's got Romney to fall back on.

IrishWhiskey - 2008-12-11

Nah. I'm much more worried about the ones who fake religion or believe anything required of them to gain power. Those are the ones who sold their souls.

Huckabee would be bad no doubt. I mean, he still thinks it would be a good idea to quarantine AIDS victims because he doesn't believe scientists about how the virus is spread. But I don't think he could ever be as bad as Palin.

As for the video: this is why I'm glad we elected a President who believes "In a society like ours, 'Because God says so' isn't a basis for public policy."

jangbones - 2008-12-11

When Huckabee hit the "I am not a homophobe" part of the coversation, he might as well have just said "Okay, I lost."

Caminante Nocturno - 2008-12-11

Maybe he doesn't hate it, but he certainly fears it, and that still is not a valid reason for outlawing it.

Hay Belly - 2008-12-11

Is Huckabee going to propose laws that mandate fertility testing before marriage? That's the only way he can support his arguement.

SolRo - 2008-12-11

Well the real problem is that gays constantly produce children until they get married.

Marriage sterilizes them.

jangbones - 2008-12-11

yes, among other giant flaws in his logic, Huckabee appears to be suggesting that if you get married you are legally obligated to have children

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2008-12-12

No see you don't understand because ADAM AND STEVE HURR BLURR SO CLEVER HA

simon666 - 2008-12-11

I'd like to point out how Huckabee talks about "undoing" the institution of marriage. But that's not what the issue is about. The issue is about "adding" to the institution of marriage. If Huckabee feels "adding" to the definition is going to "reduce" it, then he is saying "gay people are inherently of less value than straight people and will reduce the value marriage if included within it." This goes directly against his position that "all people are created equal."

Fuck him.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2008-12-12

God bless you, Jon Stewart.

Also, there are no such things as gay parents. Fact!

Syd Midnight - 2008-12-12

You can get married when Mike Huckabee is allowed to burn you at the stake. Them's fair terms now.

Hooper_X - 2008-12-13

I think Stewart really hits it when he points out that quite frankly, guys like Huckabee actually have a critically different understanding of things than ....let's say... sane people do.

Monchiles Monchiles - 2008-12-16

When I saw this on Comedy Central I knew it was only a matter of time before it wound up here.
