Okay, so the graphics aren't great. But at least its a game where Sonic runs and jumps, as opposed to shooting guns, turning into stretchy armed werehogs, using a sword, riding a skateboard, fishing, or making out with underage girls.

This game was obviously planned before the internet turned the entire Sonic franchise into a vehicle for furries and pedophiles

At this point it's more like a Saturn landscape engine tech demo starring Sonic. I think they were right to can this one.

sonic = moronic

Yes, folks, this was supposed to be Sega's Mario 64 killer.

a more finished build. looks even worse.

It doesn't look like you can move very fast in that game. That seems to negate the whole purpose of a sonic game.

The rings being attracted to Sonic when he stands within a certain distance of them is a good mechanic though.

Why was the landscape breathing?
thebaronsdoctor - 2009-01-08
I'm glad I wasn't the only one unnerved by that

nice music though!

I was actually thinking about how awful the music was compared to previous sonic games. Everything about this looks completely unpolished and reminds me what a horrible era this was in gaming.

Enjoy the smooth jazz stylings of Sonic the Hedgehog as you fuck an ugly old woman in your hot tub

Imagine how fun this would've been with actual enemies.

I love how it appears there are no camera controls whatsoever. What the hell.
RomancingTrain - 2009-01-08
This is better than the last 7 Sonic games because I see no new animal friends.
pastorofmuppets - 2009-01-10
They threw a flicky in at the end. I guess those guys don't really count though.

The game over music is so utterly 90s bad taste.

Totally tubular, dude!

It's like someone took the Nights: Into Dreams walking-around mechanics and barfed into the source code and took away camera controls.

That's pretty much exactly what they did. Then Yuji Naka got butthurt and the whole thing went south.

Let's show off our design chops by using 3-D to implement thoroughly linear gameplay!
