Its workmanship, its tastefulness. Yet again, I ask how did they not know that time would turn this to self-satire.
It has to do with how back then in the 70s they really didn't understand what "tasteful" actually meant.
I think it's also to do with "if you tell a lie often enough, people will believe it."
