I remember seeing this and going, Oh shit I want this guy as president--but he couldn't run in 2008, nossir, it'd have to be 2012 at the earliest.

So I mean I guess we're both, blessedly, idiots.

Gus, I've told this story before but I don't think I told it to you. I was watching the convention with my parents and this speech came on. My dad & I were like "Man, I wish this guy were running. Maybe 2008" and my mom was all "NO WAY IT'S HILLARY'S TURN!"

So then Kerry came out and did his retarded "REPORTING FOR DUTY" salute thing. My dad turned it off in disgust, announced the election lost, and wrote down Obama's name so he wouldn't forget it in four years. He supported Obama the whole time, and my mom came around after the primaries.

Everything that all of you said. Yes. Yes. Yes. I think that pretty much anyone who heard this speech was collectively thinking "Now why isn't this guy lined up?"

Then again, even if Kerry had won, it probably worked for the best given that for the next four years after, the Republicans found their luck well running dry and public opinion turning around.

Hell, I think that the DNC may well have been grooming Obama for the position figuring that, in all reality, a turnover of power in the middle of a war wouldn't be the safest move politically.

It's okay, when you grow up all those big words will make sense to you.

Which part clinched it for you? The part where he promised to steadfastly address America's problems? The part where he called for all Americans to work hard and take responsiblity for our problems? The part where he told the whole world that America will cooperate with them if they seek peace and defeat them if they seek war?

Come on, don't hold back here. Tell us why you think he's a big doody head.
