Haggard owned up to this last night on Larry King. It was pretty interesting hearing what he had to say about everything he's gone through (and put others through). He actually seems to have gained some humility, going through this. I'm not praising the man or in any way excusing what he did, but I was pretty impressed by how candid and vulnerable he seemed. Also, the fact that his family has stood by him (his wife and one of his sons was also on the show) is pretty incredible.
Ted Haggard is an asshole whether he's a closeted homosexual, a passive-aggressive meth-head homosexual hypocrite, or a cured homosexual. Fuck him.
You shouldn't get soft for the likes of Ted Haggard, the guy is getting everything he deserves for being a chauvinistic fundamentalist hypocrite.
With that said, I have nothing against him for being a homosexual.
HURF BLURF DUH
"Owned up?" Do you mean he came out and admitted he was a homosexual and really can't do anything about that because some people are just gay? And that there's nothing really wrong with that and he doesn't need to be "cured" and his entire stance on homosexuality has been hollow and harmful and only geared around duping bigots out of their money in the name of Jesus?
That's what I would call owning up. If he's doing anything short of that, then fuck him and fuck you.
Well, he's not necessarily a homosexual. He's definitely not fully hetero either, but that's not really important to me.
It just made an impression on me to see a man who once came touted his views with such pompous self-righteousness brought down to a place of humility where he can see that what he was once so certain about just might not be true, and that he himself is more than a bit "confused".
That's just it, Spencer, the only thing he "sees" is that his last opportunity to save face to the churchees is to let rip with a few "AH'M SO SAWRRRRRRY!!! BOO HOO!"s on television, which has been the fall-back M.O. for every religious kook whose hand has been caught in a cookie jar since Jimmy Swaggart.
If you really believe this guy is repentant for anything at all, and if you really believe this self-flagellating and snuffling act is anything but an act, then I've got a few bridges you might be interested in buying.
Well, no, I understand that there is a pretty good chance that his remorse is insincere.
But, see, with those hypothetical bridges of yours, my cynicism would indeed serve me well... since it could very well prevent me from wasting my money on damaged or possibly non-existent bridges.
But with Mr. Haggard, I have nothing to lose by taking his remorse at face value. And for me, that interpretation is more pleasing than "he's trying to save face".
I think the truth lies somewhere in between, to be honest.
That's slander. My bridges are sound. They were all built by NY DOT.

I'd remind Ted that "God Hates Fags," but I think we've established that god hates the whole world now.

I watched his Oprah interview. He admits he's had sex with guys but says he isn't really truly gay, just kinda gay. He's squelching those gay feelings down and using Jesus as a cock-blocker.
What I really want to see is Ted Haggard apologize to Richard Dawkins for being such a creationist faggot.
I guess gay sex isn't an abomination if you're just _partially_ gay.
"I'm just kinda gay, so could you just kinda fuck me in the butt? THANKS"

I think, personally, the best thing this guy has ever done is when he originally fessed up to buying meth, and was like "BUT NOT TO USE!!!" He was really emphatic that it wasn't TO BE USED AT ALL.

Guys, it's OK. Jesus will forgive him because he's been saved. Hypocrisy ain't no thang.

i can't believe i live in a world with all these comments...these comments reflect who you are...i have not read one that makes the world feel better or people feel better or anything...this is why the world is so screwed up because everyone concentrates on negative...who makes it right or wrong...everything is about judging and it's just shitty!!!

RockBolt...i don't think so...i watched the video again and who cares if the guy is gay? and who knows if the accuser is a victim? who knows if the accuser was not a willing participant? my point was and is that everyone stretches to the negative and it's just sickening...
well there was that whole thing where he condemned and propagated against homosexuals
