Wow, that's the first I heard of the 10cc song. I saw the first episode when it aired but not the pilot. It's a really cool song. I wonder if it's a coincidence how similar "I'm Coming Home" is.
Not on purpose but maybe after a year they just associated that sound with the show so when they did the theme they gravitated toward a similar sound.
The original Rubber Bullets by 10cc is from the late 70s or something. This new song is by Cheeseburger, a band that Allmusic said is doing for The Stooges what The Darkness does for Queen and is fronted by Christy Karacas, the major creative brain behind the show.
Incidentally, they have a song in GTA 4. It's probably a good time to be Christy Karacas.
The theme is just awesome. And in my opinion David Wain does an incredible job. And starting with a little short about Jackknife gives the show a lot of character.
