this reminds me of when we'd build fires on beaches in Washington and all the giant sand fleas would come out and swarm towards it, because they are irresistibly led to heat. it smelled like cooking shrimp, so we ate them.
they tasted no different than shrimp, so we took butter and fried them by the dozen. it was good.
