Great Danes do this to people, too. They have this odd desire to "tag" someone with their behinds/flanks by leaning against them. It's kind of like they want to know who has "got their back" as they look around the rest of the room.
They also seem unaware of how heavy they are, and they then knock over their unsuspecting lookout.
