This is a bad omen for the new year.

I was there on my vacation at the time. I didn't get too close, but even from a distance, this was crazy looking

But then again, considering how firework crazy Beijing gets during the lunar new year, what with the professional scale fireworks being aimed directly at buildings by 5 year olds, bouncing off and exploding five feet high in the street, I'm surprised this doesn't happen many times every new year.

Wonderful side note, most of the state run news did not run anything about this disaster. Only due to amateur video did anyone outside the area, know what had happened.
