Followup - Apparently this kid made a career out of the model spaceship/CGI thing - he's worked on Star Trek, Battlestar Galactica, and Speed Racer. So happy ending, I guess.
He also got married and is somewhat embarrassed by his younger self, but then who amongst us isn't?
the armada shot was really good for a 14 year old, I'm happy for and a bit envious of a nerd who actually manages fulfills his dreams.
