I dunno... Giygas was pretty awesome, especially for a villain in a game meant to be kid-freindly. This is a little freaky, in the "Prepubescent LSD trip" sort of way.

In my opinion, its Giygas.
Its angel form looks almost identical to Giygas when he/it had a body. (Mother 1)
Perhaps it was supposed to be a shade of Giygas you fight.
