There is, of course, the even more "classic sexy" exchange between Bogart and Bacall throughout the film, but I always enjoyed this scene best.

This movie is very good. It's too bad it doesn't make much sense, since they took out the whole Carol-Geiger gay lover angle from the book and thus Carol doesn't have much motivation to kill anyone.

I wish they'd left the line "Their perfume has the rotten sweetness of a prostitute" as is. What Geiger sells in his bookstore is also unclear.

Everyone in this scene is sexy. Bogie, Malone, the rain, that car that pulls up at the end. It's all good.

I wonder if this is one of the earliest documented cases of the Sexy Librarian gimmick? I mean, all the key characteristics are there - cute but unassuming and then she takes off the glasses and takes her hair down and ROWR.
