Hmm. I see great beauty in things like that, I mean, who doesn't? And I think it actually downplays the beauty if you assume someone "designed" it. The fact that something like that is the result of natural processes, and that we the result of similar processes, have minds capable of appreciating it, well that just kills me.
To assert that things like this only exist because a human-like mind dreams them up seems to be to be not only the most arrogant thing possible but also a complete cop-out, a fear of or refusal to see beauty on its own terms.
