Seriously though, this thing isn't exactly fine art, but it's noticibly better than Family Guy, how did the quality decline so much in...every way

Comeuppance - 2009-05-02
Downhill from here? That's debatable. It's just a shift in humor sources. Family Guy tends to do more pop culture jokes, while this is slapstick for the most part.
Personally, I like Family Guy more than this, but mostly because I never found slapstick comedy in cartoons funny. Family guy is occasionally funny, which places it ahead of this.
Sidenote:
I don't think Family Guy really deserves all of the hate that it gets on this site. Yeah, it's not great, but a lot of shows aren't great. I don't see the point in getting in a huff about this show or making broad generalizations about the people that like it.

frau_eva - 2009-05-02 Family Guy was genuinely good when the constant threat of cancellation put the fear into them. I don't like it now that Seth thinks he's the Invincible God of Comedy, but there's not much more in this pilot than occasional cool banter and a lot of the same tired cartoon jokes.
People just like saying everything is better than Family Guy. A lot of things are, but this isn't.

Had Seth remained at Cartoon Network, he'd be making much better stuff today, because S&P would have forced him to actually put some effort into his jokes to make them work for kids, instead constantly of falling back on poop and vomit gags or references to 80's sitcoms which kids would never recognize.

I remember this but I don't remember it being this clever 12 years ago

dead_cat - 2009-05-03 It's the exact opposite here -- I loved this back when it first came out, but seeing it today makes me realize how crappy and sloppy it actually is.

Wow...I haven't seen What a Cartoon in years. That was a great show for seeing all these embryonic shows, some of which went on to greatness (Dexter, Cow and Chicken, Powerpuff Girls, etc..)

I don't have any problem with Family Guy. I like its irreverence and arrogance, although I agree it might run out of check. Still, out of adult cartoons it's probably the best.

family guy sucks, this sucks, these stars are for the What a Cartoon show, on which i saw the pilots for stuff like the powerpuff girls and dexter's lab

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2009-05-03 ditto. I'll give this 3 stars because this actually makes more sense than Family Guy. Which says a lot.

Time has not been kind to this cartoon.

Wow, the cultural references are actually contained within the story!

So is anyone else really, REALLY reminded of Signor Rossi and his dog? I mean, it's not like it's a straight lift or anything, just an interesting design similarity.
Three-starred for getting the What A Cartoon theme music stuck in my head within seconds even though I hadn't heard it in at least a decade.

Never really liked this cartoon. The animation at least is better than Family Guy's but that's not saying much. Seth McFarlane also wrote a million Johnny Bravo episodes while employed at Cartoon Network.

Family Guy at its worst is still better than what South Park has degenerated into.

Better than Life with Larry.
