Cheney is right! Powell endorsed the candidate who he honestly thought would do the better job instead of carrying water for a candidate he didn't like! He can't be a true Republican, not when he put his country before his party!

This is not sarcasm.

The modern Republican party has become about GOP uber alles, about opposition for the sake of opposition, about hoping the president will fail just because he doesn't have a little "R" next to his name when he appears on C-SPAN. Powell is not a Republican by current standards. He should be proud.

Does anyone else get the impression he's fighting for his life and he's trying to polarize the country to save it? It seems like the only move he has left on the board is to try to convince a ton of psychopaths that he's kept them safe so that he can't be sent to jail without a revolt.

Also, the force thing.

Five for the description. Seriously, 40 years of "public service" has left him skilled at doing evil, lining his pockets and the pockets of his cronies, and not much else. If Dick Cheney makes a prediction or recommends a course of action, it's the wrong one. If Dick Cheney makes a statement, it's a self-serving lie. The only reason to listen to him is to know what not to believe, and the only good thing about him is that he'll be dead soon, hopefully.

Well, looking at it from a Magic the Gathering perspective, Colin Powell is white/black and thus harder to play than Rush Limbaugh, who is pure black mana, which is more Cheney's speed. Plus, Rush can be tapped to put angry 1/1 rednecks into play, while Colin Powell's creature generating days (i.e., military service) are behind him.

Still, it's a tradeoff. Rush Limbaugh's got Vanishing, on account of he'll have a heart attack any day now.

I really am enjoying this radical slide into the footnotes of history the Republican party has going on.

If he's such a political "genius", then why did he let ANY of his shady JD deals stay public at all? We've known about his legal shennanigans for a long time now, and he's now frantically trying to create a diversion? Makes me wonder what other skeletons are waiting in his closet.
