What was his joke
|
kennydra - 2009-06-12 During the telecast, he dedicated an entire Top 10 list to Palin, claiming she "bought makeup at Bloomingdales to update her 'slutty flight attendant' look." This followed an earlier joke that said: "Sarah Palin went to a Yankees game yesterday. There was one awkward moment: During the seventh inning stretch, her daughter was knocked up by Alex Rodriguez."
|
Tuan Jim - 2009-06-12 That during the 7th inning stretch Alex Rodriguez knocked up Palin's daughter.
Also something about having to look out for Eliot Spitzer.
Letterman latter noted that Spitzer didn't have any problem with the joke...
Palin's last comments about how one's words have to match one's accomplishments in the GOP were surreal.
|
|
Keefu - 2009-06-13 That is sort of creepyish and gross actually.

Carter brought us Reagan, Obama brings us Palin? Maybe...

Man, I'm just not going to watch all seven minutes of that, so I only have to assume she, at some point, mentioned that Willow Palin was already pregnant so there's no way A-Rod could have knocked her up anyway.

I didn't watch this clip, this entire "feud" is a complete waste of time.
Sarah Palin has political aspirations and is competing for attention from her conservative base. David Letterman hosts a comedy show for a living. The two ran afoul of each other, and since then every single joke and interview and statement from both sides has been carefully measured and tested and considered to best advance their positions within their respective professions.
The anti-intellectualism of the current populist right wing movement is exhausting. Pointing out every intolerant, frightened, shallow, and reality-challenged statement of those who are trying to score political points with old white people has no effect on anyone or anything. Either you have half a brain in your head and can easily see through it, or you are so detached from reality that you will easily ignore all evidence that doesn't support your xenophobia and base tribalism. What possible purpose does talking about it serve? Once I was amused by it, but now I am bored by it, and occasionally frustrated that my country is inhabited by so many terrible people.
Sorry, I'm drunk. I'll stop now.

Why am I not surprised she'd use a phrase like "Absolutely not necessarily?"

"This so called comedian"... Letterman is a pedo... conservative cunt-hawk with 18 kids wants to be a feminist... lololololololololol

So it's ok when it's jokes about Chelsea Clinton, though, right guys?

This woman cannot be allowed to drop out of the spotlight. The best thing she can do for her image is remain silent, which is unacceptable.

I'm still having trouble believing that she's real.

No matter how partisan I am, no matter how ridiculous I think Palin is, I don't blame her for going on the attack here. I'd be pretty riled up if someone made a joke like that on national TV about someone in my family, especially a 14 year old.
|
|
spikestoyiu - 2009-06-13 Letterman was making the joke about Bristol Pail, who is 18 and already has one kid. Also, you're a faggot.

|
Hooper_X - 2009-06-13 Oh, I thought it was about the eight year old.
Silly me!
