I remember being a bored high school dropout in the 90's, and I had this mentor who was kind of cool and taught me some things, but he was also nuts and was talking about how we were going to have to live off the land and retreat in the forest before the year 2000 because they were going to come up with a way to regenerate people, and later after that people would have to get the Mark of the Beast barcode on their hands or heads and if they didn't they'd be executed Guillotine style because everyone would be immortal like on Highlander and that would be the only way you could die.

He had this timeline all planned out about how the few christians left would have to rise up against tyranny and ultimately be executed, or they'd be damned. Which made me wonder why he had to hide in the woods if his goal was to be a martyr of some kind. I think he really thought that by now him and I would be running around chopping heads off people and returning to our little shanty by the river to hide and live another day. He would go on about how you'd have to be careful and make sure they wouldn't see smoke rising or trying to pack ice into walls with some kind of plastic lining to make something like a year-round freezer. I highly doubted then even, that it would work.
