If a dilatant gel is a "Non-Newtonian liquid", then a) jello and all other thick suspensions must be liquids too, and b) what do you call a thixotrope, which behaves in exactly the opposite way? Is it "Non-Non-Newtonian" and therefore Newtonian? If so, what's water? Gaak, the people who make up these buzzwords.
Had a lot of fun playing with the stuff as a kid, wish I'd thought of groovy things like this to do with it.

I just imagine huge, multi cellular non-Newtonian liquid monsters sitting over books and fossils of extinct humans and trying to work out exactly how the right proportions of chemicals were sitting in a pond vibrating at just the right frequency to create life.
"There must have been a designer!"
"No, it was sheer luck! An event bound to happen eventually."

Upon the slimy sea.
